Valdur Ohakas (1925 – 1998). Female nude on a bed (1950s)

Valdur Ohakas studied at Tallinn Primary School No. 21, Tallinn Progymnasium II, Tallinn Commercial School and Tallinn Evening Technical School. In 1942–1943 he studied at the Tallinn School of Fine and Applied Arts under Eerik Haamer and Johannes Greenberg. In 1943–1944 he was mobilized in the German army. In 1944–1948 he studied at the Tartu State Art Institute under Johannes Võerahansu and Elmar Kitse, but did not finish school, as in 1949 he was arrested together with a group of art students and sent to the Vorkuta prison camp in the Karaganda region of the Kazakh SSR. He was released from there in 1956.
He participated in exhibitions since 1946, and from 1959 he was a member of the Estonian Artists' Union.
Valdur Ohakas participated in the Estonian art renewal process of the 1960s and interacted closely with Ülo Sooster and many artists from Tartu and Tallinn. The peak of the artist's work was the 1960s–1970s, when romantic landscape visions were central to his diverse work.
Strahhov Anatoli (s. 1946). Oma lugu. (2022)
Artist: Anatoli Strahhov. This stunning piece, "Oma lugu", is a blend of oil and tempera on canvas, measuring 60 x 50 cm. Signed by the artist, A. Strahhov, in 2022. Strahhov studied at the Tshinvali Art School from 1963 to 1967 and at the Estonian SSR State Art Institute from 1971 to 1976. He currently lives and works in Tallinn. A member of the Estonian Artists' Union and the Estonian Russian Artists' Association, Strahhov has been featured in national and international exhibitions since 1975. His works, which masterfully create the impression of various materials and textures, balance conservatism and experimentation, tradition and exoticism, expressive materiality and ephemeral boundaries. His works are part of private collections in the USA, Finland, Italy, France, Japan, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Russia, and Estonia.
Schiemann (German artist). Carnations. The end 19, the beginning of 20 centuries
Oil on wood painting by the esteemed German artist Schiemann depicts a delicate arrangement of Carnations, representing a period of artistic transition between the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th centuries. Artist: Anatoli Strahhov, born in 1946, is a renowned artist who studied at the Tshinvali Art School from 1963 to 1967 and at the Estonian SSR State Art Institute from 1971 to 1976. He currently lives and works in Tallinn. Strahhov is a member of the Estonian Artists' Union and the Estonian Russian Artists' Association. He has been participating in national and international exhibitions since 1975. His annual solo exhibitions have been held in both Estonian and foreign galleries and exhibition halls. His works are in private collections in the USA, Finland, Italy, France, Japan, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Russia, and Estonia. Strahhov's works, which skillfully create the impression of different materials and textures, balance conservatism and experiment, tradition and exoticism, expressive materiality and ephemeralness on a strange border, contain elusive textures and meanings, never fully opening. He has participated in more than 30 solo and group exhibitions. The artwork "Minu aed II" is an oil and tempera on cardboard, measuring 21 x 25 cm, and is signed by the artist in the lower right corner, dated 2023.
