Holz, Albert (1884 – 1954). The Midday Sun. (1914)
Oil on cardboard painting depicting a serene landscape. The piece measures 35.4 x 25.9 and features the initials "A.H." on the lower right corner. On the reverse, the title "Mittagsonne" from July, alongside the location "Henkersforst" and the year 1914 is clearly marked, signed by A. Holz. Albert Holtz of Düsseldorf, a prodigious talent in the world of art, was mentored by the likes of Christian Kröner and Georg Khachkov. Notably, Khachkov held a position at the Academy of Arts between 1919–28. Later, Holtz contributed his creative expertise to the city theater and even crafted landscape panoramas for the Dusseldorf Zoo. He is best known for his authentic landscapes and his genuine depictions of village life, particularly in the Vamlin and Moselle regions.
Hoeffler, Johann Adolf (1825 – 1898). On the Edge of the Forest. (1870 – 90s)
This remarkable oil on canvas by Johann Adolf Hoeffler titled "On the Edge of the Forest" from the period 1870-90s exemplifies the artist's deep connection to landscapes. Measuring 85,5 x 111, the artwork showcases Hoeffler's signature at the lower right. A part of the Frankfurt and Kronberg painters, Hoeffler shared close associations with notable names like Burger and Burnitz. His education was profound, having studied at the Städel Institute and the prestigious Munich and Düsseldorf Art Academies. The years from 1848 to 1853 saw Hoeffler traveling extensively to North America and Cuba. The travel inspired numerous drawings and oil studies. Post his travels, the 1860s marked a period where he ardently concentrated on capturing the enchanting landscapes around Frankfurt.
Van Blime, Jean – Claude (born 1932). Yellow Rhapsody I (2001)
Oil on canvas "Yellow Rhapsody I" by Jean-Claude Van Blime is a mesmerizing piece, created in 2001 and signifying a particularly successful period in the author's career. Bormeister, Marju (born 1945). Rutja. (1990)
"Rutja" is a captivating oil on cardboard piece by the renowned artist Marju Bormeister, painted in 1990. This artwork encapsulates a moment from Bormeister's life when she likely visited Rutja in summer with her father, Märt Bormeister. A reflection of Marju's deep connection with Tallinn’s Art House and her eau de turpentine world of colours. Minin, Sergei (born1954) Nelijärve. (1996)
