Jürgenson, Aleksandra (1869-1946). Florists. (1926)
Watercolour, gouache, and paper come together in this exquisite piece by Aleksandra Jürgenson titled "Florists." Painted in 1926, the artwork measures 33.5 x 24 and features a signature on the lower right - "Abramzevo 2" and on the reverse - "A.Jürgenson 1926." Jürgenson was not just a painter but also held prominence as the daughter of Tchaikovsky's esteemed publisher, Pyotr Jurgenson. Their close connection is evident in her work, as Tchaikovsky himself entrusted her with the responsibility of painting his portrait after she joined the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture, and Architecture. Notably, Tchaikovsky dedicated L'espiegle No12, of the Eighteen Pieces Op72 1893 to Aleksandra. Another testament to her artistic brilliance is her portrait of fellow painter Surikov, which holds a place of honor in the Tretiakov Gallery, Moscow.
Allsalu Efraim. (1929 – 2006). Two Women at a Window. (1995)
Efraim Allsalu's "Two Women at a Window" (1995) is a striking oil on cardboard piece that measures 49.6 x 42 cm. Signed in the lower left as E.Allsalu 95, the painting exemplifies the artist's deep understanding of human psychology, particularly as depicted through portraiture. Allsalu, a graduate of the State Art Institute in 1954, also paints landscapes and still lifes that convey an exceptional sense of temperament and cheerfulness. Anatoli Strahhov, born in 1946, is a renowned artist known for his work "Daam puuviljadega" from the 1980s. This piece, measuring 32.7 x 25.3 cm, is an oil on cardboard painting. The artist's initials, AS, are located in the lower right corner. Since the 1970s, after graduating from ERKI, Strahhov has consistently exhibited his work, captivating audiences with his increasingly refined technical and aesthetic style over the years.
Kongo, Alfred. (1906 – 1990). Roheline maastik majaga. (1980-nendad)
Mixed media on cardboard, "Roheline maastik majaga" (1980s) by Alfred Kongo is a breathtaking piece reflecting the Pallas style. Measuring 64 x 50 cm, this artwork illustrates the artistic genius that Kongo absorbed as a student of J.Vahtra, A.Vabbe, and V.Ormisson at the Pallas Art School in Tartu. Lower on the reverse, it is signed by A.Kongo himself. Alfred Kongo's works are housed in many museums and have been part of numerous exhibitions, marking his significant contribution to art.
