Lokk, Artur. (1928-1996). Metsane jõekallas. (1981)

Artur Lokk (1928-1996), a renowned Estonian artist, has significantly influenced the art scene in Tartu. His work, "Metsane jõekallas" (1981), is a beautiful oil on cardboard painting, measuring 39 x 48 cm. The signature "A. Lokk 81" can be found at the bottom right of the artwork. Lokk graduated from the Tartu State Art Institute in 1951 and his influence on Tartu's art exhibitions is undeniable. Like many artists from Tartu, his work often features views of Southern Estonia.

Anatoli Strahhov: A Balance Between Tradition and Experimentation

Anatoli Strahhov (b. 1946) is a renowned artist, collector, and jeweler. His work, characterized by the virtuosic creation of different materials and textures, balances between conservatism and experimentation, tradition and exoticism, expressive materiality and ephemeral boundaries. Strahhov studied at the Tshinvali Art School from 1963 to 1967 and at the Estonian SSR State Art Institute from 1971 to 1976. He lives and works in Tallinn and is a member of the Estonian Artists' Union and the Estonian Russian Artists' Association. He has been exhibiting in national and international exhibitions since 1975. His annual solo exhibitions have been held in both Estonian and foreign galleries and exhibition halls. His works are in private collections in the USA, Finland, Italy, France, Japan, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Russia, and Estonia. He has participated in more than 30 solo and group exhibitions.
Voldemar Peil (1907 – 1999): Artist and Theatre Designer

Voldemar Peil (1907 - 1999) was a renowned artist, best known for his work "Mänd mererannas" (1988). This piece, an oil on canvas, measures 60 х 74.8 and is signed on the bottom right by V. Peil. Born in Narva in 1907, Peil began his art studies in 1926 at Pallas under the guidance of Jaan Vahtra, Voldemar Mellik, Villem Ormisson, and Ado Vabbe, primarily focusing on painting. He completed his education in 1930, qualifying as a drawing teacher. Peil furthered his studies in 1936 in Moscow and Leningrad theatres. From 1932 to 1940, he worked as a decorator at the Narva Theatre, later at Vanemuine, Tallinn Drama Theatre, and Russian Drama Theatre as the chief artist. Peil's design style was situational, effectively using projection and lighting alongside painted decoration and stage mechanisms. He designed approximately 300 productions and practiced realistic panel painting, including floral and landscape images and portraits.
