Lepik, Hugo (1905 – 2001). Winter in Sweden. (1952)
Hugo Lepik's "Winter in Sweden" (1952) is a captivating oil on canvas painting that exhibits the artist's deep and vigorous coloring. Measuring 50.3 x 61.5 cm, this masterpiece reflects Lepik's affinity for landscapes, notably those of Estonia, Sweden, and Norway. The signature "H.Lepik 1952" is present on the lower left. After graduating from the State Industrial and Art School in 1929, Lepik enhanced his skills in countries like Germany, Italy, Finland, and Canada. He emigrated to Sweden in 1944. Besides landscapes, he excelled in painting portraits. His works have been showcased in various cities including Riga, Kaunas, Antwerp, Rome, Budapest, Stockholm, Montreal, and across Sweden.
Loik Ilme (b. 1939) – “Naissaarelt” (2016)
Loik Ilme, born in 1939 in Vahastus, Raplamaal, is a renowned artist known for his work in painting and porcelain. He completed his education from Tartu Art School in 1968 as an artist-decorator and from the Estonian State Art Academy as a ceramist in 1974. He has worked as an artist-decorator in Tallinn's Cafes-Restaurants Trust and as an artist in the ARS porcelain painting art combine. Currently, he is engaged as a freelance artist in painting and porcelain. He has exhibited his work in Estonia and Finland. The artwork "Naissaarelt" from 2016, an oil on cardboard painting, measures 37.5 x 56.5 cm and is signed on the bottom left as Ilme Loik 2016.
Schmitt, Oscar (1825 – 1871). Wine Cellar (1860s)
Oscar Schmitt's "Wine Cellar (1860s)" is a captivating oil on wood masterpiece that portrays a moment frozen in time from the 19th century. Measuring 46 x 38, the piece dives deep into the allure of wine cellars of the era, a theme magnified by the widespread influence of the legend of Faust. The authenticity of the artwork is further corroborated by the signature on its reverse, bearing the name and lifespan of the renowned German genre painter, Oscar Schmitt (1825 – 1871).
Greeff, Johann Peter Karl ( 1865-1939). Birches. (early 20th century)
Oil on canvas painting by Johann Peter Karl Greeff (1865-1939), depicting one of his favorite motifs, Birches. The painting measures 31.5 x 46 cm and is signed in the lower left as P.Greeff. Greeff was educated at the Düsseldorf Academy (1881-1882) and the Karlsruhe Art School (1889-1890), and was known for his participation in major German art centers. He was a member of the Malkasten Artists' Association in Düsseldorf and an exhibition association. His friendship with the famous Estonian artists Kristjan and Paul Raud is noteworthy, and the early 20th-century piece captures the essence of his artistic style.
