Valdur Ohakas studied at Tallinn Primary School No. 21, Tallinn Progymnasium II, Tallinn Commercial School and Tallinn Evening Technical School. In 1942–1943 he studied at the Tallinn School of Fine and Applied Arts under Eerik Haamer and Johannes Greenberg. In 1943–1944 he was mobilized in the German army. In 1944–1948 he studied at the Tartu State Art Institute under Johannes Võerahansu and Elmar Kitse, but did not finish school, as in 1949 he was arrested together with a group of art students and sent to the Vorkuta prison camp in the Karaganda region of the Kazakh SSR. He was released from there in 1956.
He participated in exhibitions since 1946, and from 1959 he was a member of the Estonian Artists' Union.
Valdur Ohakas participated in the Estonian art renewal process of the 1960s and interacted closely with Ülo Sooster and many artists from Tartu and Tallinn. The peak of the artist's work was the 1960s–1970s, when romantic landscape visions were central to his diverse work.

Skride, Arijs (1906 – 1987). Lilac. (1930s)

Oil on canvas masterpiece by the renowned Latvian artist Arijs Skride, this piece, titled "Lilac," showcases his talent from the 1930s era. Positioned lower right is his signature, "A. Skride." Skride, a luminary in the art world, holds a rich history marked by his graduation from the Landscape Painting studio under V. Purvitis at the Latvian Art Academy in 1932. His passion for art took him on a journey to Germany in 1943, seeking inspiration and vivid canvases. Between 1942 and 1964, Skride imparted his knowledge and skill as a professor in the Painting Department at the Latvian Art Academy. He has been actively participating in exhibitions since 1928, with solo showcases in cities like Riga, Cesis, Jelgava, and Madona. A memorial exhibition to commemorate his legacy was organized in Riga in 1992. Not just an artist, Skride was a prominent member of the artists’ group "Sadarbs" from 1928 to 1939 and the esteemed Artists’ Union since 1944.

Lepik, Hugo (1905 – 2001). Herradura. Spain. (1950s)

A striking piece titled "Herradura, Spain" (1950s) by Hugo Lepik (1905 - 2001), rendered in both watercolor and charcoal on paper. Measuring 25.3 x 32.5 cm, it showcases H. Lepik's signature style, marked by deep and vigorous coloring. Hugo Lepik's landscapes of Estonia, Sweden, and Norway are renowned, and his portraits are equally celebrated. Educated at the State Industrial and Art School in 1929, Lepik furthered his skills across the globe, including Germany, Italy, Finland, and Canada. The artist emigrated to Sweden in 1944, and his works were displayed in cities such as Riga, Kaunas (1937), Antwerp, Rome, Budapest (1939), Stockholm (1946), Montreal (1951), and various Swedish cities.
