Artist: Johannes Võerahansu, a renowned Estonian painter, created this charcoal drawing on paper. The dimensions of the artwork are 42 x 39. The artist’s initials, J V, are inscribed at the bottom right of the piece. Johannes Võerahansu began his artistic journey in 1919 at the Tallinn College and simultaneously studied at the Ants Laikmaa Studio School until 1921. After his studies, he briefly worked as a decoration painter at the Tallinn Drama Studio Theatre and as a ceramicist at the Türi Brick and Ceramics Factory. He further honed his painting skills at Ado Vabbe’s studio in Pallas from 1932 to 1936 and completed a full course in 1940. He then served as a lecturer at the Higher Visual Arts Professions and Tartu State Art Institute, the Tartu Art School from 1955 to 1957, and at ERKI in Tallinn from 1957 to 1973. He was a member of the EKKKÜ and the Artists’ Union since 1945.
