This exquisite etching on paper, measuring 46.6 x 61.8 cm, is a creation by the renowned Estonian artist, Professor Olev Soans. Titled “Page from the series ‘Oil Shale Miners'”, it’s a part of his illustrious work during the 1970s. A graduate of the State Art Institute of Estonia (1951), Soans went on to become a professor and was regarded as one of the most outstanding graphic artists of the 1950s. He was awarded the Kristian Raud prize in 1985 and created numerous historical maps of Estonia using etching techniques. His art captures the essence of the time, blending technical mastery with profound creativity.
