Aavik Priidu (1905 – 1991). On the Shore. (1982)

Felt pen and chalk on paper, this artwork by Priidu Aavik, titled “On the Shore,” measures 23.1 x 20 cm. Created in 1982 and signed “Rannakividel” at the lower left and “Priidu Aavik 82 a” at the lower right, this piece showcases the artist’s talent in using felt-tip pens for creating independent compositional designs. Priidu Aavik’s art education began in A.Lajkmaa’s studio and later continued at the Art School “Pallas” under N.Triik’s guidance. Since 1940, Aavik has engaged in teaching and held various prestigious positions in Estonian art societies and institutes, including being a director at the Tartu Art Institute and the chairman of the Art fund in Tallinn.
