Kütt, Alleks (1921 – 1991). Otepää (1967)
€160
Ink, watercolor, and thin cardboard form the basis of “Otepää (1967)” by Alleks Kütt (1921 – 1991), a vivid sketch for a linocut. Measuring 14.7 x 18.6 cm, the piece is signed in the lower left as “Otepää” and in the lower right with “A. Kütt 67.a.” Alleks Kütt studied at the Tallinn State Institute of Applied Arts, graduating in 1949. He later served as a lecturer at the Department of Drawing and Graphics at the Art Academy of Estonia. Known as an innovative printmaker, Kütt experimented with new techniques, including electro-colour gravure printing and graphic hot. His subjects ranged from fishermen and industrial motifs to landscapes and sports, with a particular interest in war imagery. From the late 1960s, his work took a more complex and decorative turn, driven by his imagination.
