Lepik, Hugo (1905 – 2001). Winter in Sweden. (1952)

Hugo Lepik's "Winter in Sweden" (1952) is a captivating oil on canvas painting that exhibits the artist's deep and vigorous coloring. Measuring 50.3 x 61.5 cm, this masterpiece reflects Lepik's affinity for landscapes, notably those of Estonia, Sweden, and Norway. The signature "H.Lepik 1952" is present on the lower left. After graduating from the State Industrial and Art School in 1929, Lepik enhanced his skills in countries like Germany, Italy, Finland, and Canada. He emigrated to Sweden in 1944. Besides landscapes, he excelled in painting portraits. His works have been showcased in various cities including Riga, Kaunas, Antwerp, Rome, Budapest, Stockholm, Montreal, and across Sweden.

Aavik 60" on the lower left. Aavik's art education began in A.Lajkmaa's studio, followed by studies at Art School "Pallas" under N.Triik's guidance from 1934 to 1938. A member of Art society "Pallas" since 1938, Aavik also directed the Tartu Art Institute and chaired the Tallinn Art Fund. Dobrovolsky, Dmitri (born 1968). Reminiscences . (1994)

"Reminiscences" by the renowned artist Dobrovolsky Dmitri, born 1968, is an exquisite oil on canvas painting. Measuring 70 x 80 cm, it bears the artist's signature on the lower left. Dmitri graduated as a designer and painter-monumentalist, having studied under well-known painters V.Zabashty and V.Storozhenko. A member of the Union of Ukrainian Artists since 1998, his works have been showcased in over 20 local and international exhibitions in cities such as Kiev, London, Cambridge, Kassel, Moscow, Chicago, Tallinn, and Kuressaare. His art can be found in private collections and museums across Europe, the U.S.A., and Canada.

Painter and graphic artist Hugo Lepik successfully graduated from the State School of Art and Design in 1929, majoring in graphic design and lithography. He was also a student of G. Reindorff. In 1935, H. Lepik furthered his studies at the Higher School of Graphic Design in Berlin.18 In 1929, he began working as a lecturer at the State School of Art and Design, where he remained until 1940. From 1929, Hugo Lepik worked intensively in the field of book graphics and contributed to magazines (e.g. cover designs and drawings for the magazine Sõdur (1929 and 1933) and cover designs for the magazines Kaitse Kodu! (1929) and Taluperenaine (1939)). He drew beautiful vignettes for the magazine Varamu (1938), which were repeated from issue to issue. Hugo Lepik's style is graphically correct and graphically subtle. The vignettes mostly depict nature motifs. The title design for the 2nd issue of the magazine Eesti Noorus in 1938 consists of a regular antique script and an ethnographic floral ornament, which is resolved in a manner typical of the era and school.
Promet, Aleksander (1879 – 1938). Weeping Birch (1935)

Aleksander Promet, a distinguished artist, began his art journey in St.Petersburg at the renowned Shtiglits School. He later honed his craft alongside esteemed artists in cultural hubs such as London, Paris, and Brussels. His artworks are characterized by their national and fantastical motifs, all encapsulated within a romantic aura. The artist made his exhibition debut in Tartu in 1909, later showcasing in places like St.Petersburg, Helsinki, and Narva.

Strahhov, Anatoli (s. 1946). Vaikuse aeg (2023)

Artist: Anatoli Strahhov, born in 1946, is a renowned artist who studied at Tshinvali Art School from 1963 to 1967 and at the Estonian SSR State Art Institute from 1971 to 1976. He currently lives and works in Tallinn. Strahhov is a member of the Estonian Artists' Union and the Estonian Russian Artists' Association. He has been exhibiting in national and international exhibitions since 1975. His annual solo exhibitions have taken place in galleries and exhibition halls in Estonia and abroad. His works are held in private collections in the USA, Finland, Italy, France, Japan, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Russia, and Estonia. Strahhov's works, which skillfully create the impression of different materials and textures, balance conservatism and experiment, tradition and exoticism, expressive materiality and ephemeralness on a strange border, contain elusive textures and meanings, never fully opening. He has participated in more than 30 solo and group exhibitions. The artwork "Vaikuse aeg" is an oil and tempera on canvas, measuring 35 x 35 cm, and is signed by the artist in 2023.
