This exquisite oil painting on plywood, measuring 14.8 x 23.4, showcases the impeccable talent of Julius Paul Junghanns. On its reverse, it's authentically signed as 'Prof. J. Junghanns'. Born in Vienna in 1876 and raised in Dresden, Junghanns was a prominent figure in the world of art. He began his formal education in 1895 as a lithographer, subsequently diving deep into the world of fine arts in Dresden and then Munich. His mentor, the renowned animalist painter Heinrich von Zügel, was instrumental in shaping his skills. By 1904, at just 28 years of age, he led the Animalist and Open-Air Painting department of the Dusseldorf Academy. Junghanns' works have been displayed in premier galleries, including the KODE Art Museums of Bergen. One of his notable works, 'Spring', was auctioned at Christie's Amsterdam for $8,052 in 2000. Junghanns continued to inspire and teach until his retirement in 1945, leaving behind a legacy when he passed away in 1958.
