Foerster's influence on Estonian landscapes is remarkable, and this particular painting holds a somewhat restrained freshness that characterizes his style of still life. The composition of flower pots and a copper kettle is masterfully crafted, and the artwork is signed on the lower right by the artist. Erwin Foerster's art education includes studies with K. Purvitise at St. Petersburg and Professor V. Mate, and his work has been exhibited since 1923. His departure from Estonia in 1940 led to his eventual demise in Northern Germany Maas, Buchholz.

Strahhov studied at the Tshinvali Art School from 1963 to 1967 and at the Estonian SSR State Art Institute from 1971 to 1976. He currently lives and works in Tallinn. A member of the Estonian Artists' Union and the Estonian Russian Artists' Association, Strahhov has been featured in national and international exhibitions since 1975. His annual solo exhibitions have been held in galleries and exhibition halls in Estonia and abroad. His works are in private collections in the USA, Finland, Italy, France, Japan, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Russia, and Estonia. Strahhov's works, which skillfully create the impression of different materials and textures, balance conservatism and experiment, tradition and exoticism, expressive materiality and ephemeral border, contain elusive textures and meanings, never fully opening. He has appeared in more than 30 solo and group exhibitions.
