Presenting "Military exercises," an exquisite oil painting dating back to the mid-18th century, this art piece measures 55.7 x 78.5. This masterful work reflects the artistic influence of The unknown German master (Early 18th century) and is reminiscent of Johann Alexander Thiele's renowned pieces such as "Dresdener Zwinger mit Carnival," "Carnival Comique, Zwinger," and the famed "Lustlager von Zeithain" (August's strong military spectacle, 1730). A prominent artist of his era, J. A. Thiele's influence extends to his son, Johan Friedrich Alexander Thiele II (1747-1803). Thiele's connection to this piece requires further investigation. Explore this evocative depiction of military life and discover a vital part of art history.
Pulst, August (1889 – 1977). Apples with Vase. (1973)
Immerse yourself in the elegant world of August Pulst with "Apples with Vase" (1973). This exquisite watercolour painting on paper measures 42 x 62.2 cm and features Pulst's signature in the lower right corner (A. Pulst1973). On the reverse, you can find additional details confirming its authenticity. August Pulst's training at Riga Art School during 1911-15 under V. Purvitis, V. Tillbergs, and B. Borchert laid the foundation for his artistic expression. His work includes theatre decoration, folklore collection, and museum establishment in Estonia. Since 1919, Pulst's art has been exhibited widely, showcasing landscapes, flowers, and views of the old town. His style often reflects an ethnographical touch, making this piece a unique addition to any art collection.
Jürgenson, Aleksandra (1869-1946). Florists. (1926)
Watercolour, gouache, and paper come together in this exquisite piece by Aleksandra Jürgenson titled "Florists." Painted in 1926, the artwork measures 33.5 x 24 and features a signature on the lower right - "Abramzevo 2" and on the reverse - "A.Jürgenson 1926." Jürgenson was not just a painter but also held prominence as the daughter of Tchaikovsky's esteemed publisher, Pyotr Jurgenson. Their close connection is evident in her work, as Tchaikovsky himself entrusted her with the responsibility of painting his portrait after she joined the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture, and Architecture. Notably, Tchaikovsky dedicated L'espiegle No12, of the Eighteen Pieces Op72 1893 to Aleksandra. Another testament to her artistic brilliance is her portrait of fellow painter Surikov, which holds a place of honor in the Tretiakov Gallery, Moscow.
Vasul-Peil, Merike (born 1944). Flowers.(1975)
The exquisite oil painting on cardboard by Merike Vasul-Peil stands out for its vibrant detailing and professional-level artistry. Signed "M. Vasul-Peil.75" at the bottom left, its decorative nature is a testament to the artist's unparalleled skill. The reverse side is also marked "Lilled. 1975 A." as a signature of the masterpiece titled "Flowers." A perfect embodiment of Merike Vasul-Peil's 1975 collection.
Ojalo, Ilmar (1910 – 1989). View of Thick Margarita. (1940s)
Ilmar Ojalo, a prodigious artist, initially nurtured his artistry in Tallinn before refining his skills in Prague and Helsinki. The piece, "View of Thick Margarita", from the 1940s, resonates with Ojalo's signature flair and impeccable craftsmanship. Sketched on paper using watercolour, this art showcases his meticulous attention to detail. The artwork also bears the artist's unique signature "Ojalo" on its lower right corner. Interestingly, between 1949 and 1958, Ojalo extended his genius to restoration, working at the renowned Hermitage.
Mägi-Palm, Ano (1913-1991). Nasturtiums. (1991)
Watercolour on paper by Ano Mägi-Palm, this magnificent piece titled "Nasturtiums" (1991) measures 38 x 26 and showcases the artist's mastery in watercolour. The piece is signed "A Mägi-Palm –91" on the lower right. Ano Mägi-Palm actively participated in exhibitions during the 1940-60s and became renowned for the beauty and simplicity of his watercolour works.
Fritz, Max (1849 – 1914). Evening in Port. (19/20 centuries)
Pastell on paper, "Evening in Port" is an exemplary work by Max Fritz, one of the most prominent German artists from the early 20th century who also worked extensively in the USA. Measuring 44 x 64 cm, this piece showcases Fritz's mastery of the pastel medium. It's signed "Max Fritz" in the lower left corner and "Max Fritz 'Abendstimmung im Hafen' M. 650" on the reverse.
