Alfred Kongo's "Kanepi Landscape" (1988) is a striking tempera on cardboard painting, sized at 50.5 x 65.5 cm, and reflecting the distinct "Pallas" style that Kongo is renowned for. Created in 1988 and signed by the artist in the lower right, this work also bears the title "Sügisene Kanepi maastik" on the reverse. Alfred Kongo, a graduate of the "Pallas" Art School in Tartu and a student of J.Vahtra, A.Vabbe, and V.Ormisson, has a rich legacy of art presented in numerous museums and exhibitions. Lembit Saarts (1924 -2016): A Glimpse into His Life and Art

Lembit Saarts (1924 -2016) was a renowned painter from Tartu, known for his affiliation with the Soosteri group of artists. Born in 1924 in Tartu County, he studied at the Tartu Higher Courses of Visual Arts from 1942-44 and at the Tartu State Art Institute from 1944-48. He has been exhibiting his work since 1958, with personal exhibitions at the Tallinn Art Salon in 1971 and the Tartu Art Museum in 1974. A member of the KL since 1959, Saarts has painted portraits, landscapes, and compositions, including non-figurative ones. His work "Ema ja laps" (Mother and Child) from 1961, an oil on paper measuring 28.6 x 25 cm, is a notable piece from his family collection. The signature "Saarts 61" can be found on the bottom right, with "Lembit Saarts" on the reverse.
