Ilmar Ojalo (1910–1989) was an Estonian painter and restorer. In the 1930s, Ojalo studied at the Art School of the Finnish Art Association in Helsinki. In 1939, he first exhibited at an art exhibition in Finland and in March 1940 in Estonia. Later, he worked as a restorer at the Tartu Art Museum. In 1951, he was arrested for preserving caricatures and anti-Soviet literature that had appeared in newspapers during the German occupation. He served his sentence first in the Vasalemma prison camp, and later in the Perm region. After his release in 1955, Ilmar Ojalo was appointed as an artist-restorer at the Scientific Restoration Workshop in Tallinn. He restored several masterpieces, including The Wedding of Cana (1597) and the Mary's Winged Altar of the Tallinn Blackheads.

Pastel on cardboard, created by the renowned artist Aleksander Promet, this stunning piece titled "Pajud" (1920 - ndad) measures 56,7 x 39,8 cm and is signed on the lower right by A.Promet. Aleksander Promet studied in St. Petersburg and graduated from the eminent Shtiglitz School. He continued his education in London, Paris, and Brussels, where he developed his unique style. Typical of his art were the national and fantastic motifs, always romantic. This beautiful piece was part of his first exhibition in Tartu in 1909, and subsequently showcased in St.Petersburg, Helsinki, and Narva.
