47 x 47 cm artwork, titled “Composition” from the 1960s by Vasarély, Victor, a renowned French painter and printmaker of Hungarian origin. This piece exemplifies his contribution to geometrical abstraction, popularly known as Op art. Authentically signed on the lower right as “Vasarely” and numbered on the lower left as “7/325”. Victor Vasarély’s journey began in Budapest where he studied at the Academy of Painting and later at the ‘Mühely’ Academy, which was also referred to as the Budapest Bauhaus. In the 1930s, he shifted to Paris, working as a graphic designer for a decade. After World War II, he delved deep into crafting a new pictorial language, culminating in the distinctive style he’s remembered for in the 1960s.
