Soans, Olev (1925 – 1995). The Sailing Ship. (1980s)

Etching on paper by Olev Soans, a celebrated Estonian graphic artist and professor. This piece, titled “The Sailing Ship,” measures 30 x 46 cm and was created in the 1980s. It features the author’s autograph and a note “Noorus 1961/62,” and the work has been reproduced in a magazine. A graduate and senior lecturer at the State Art Institute of Estonia, Soans was one of the most prominent figures in Estonian graphic arts during the 1950s. His work often explored the history of Estonia, and he received numerous accolades, including a prize in the name of Kristian Raud in 1985. This etching is a fine example of his mastery and is an excellent addition to any art collection.
