Pulst, August (1889 – 1977). Spring in Merivälja. (1964)
€1300
“Spring in Merivälja” (1964) by August Pulst is a mesmerizing oil painting on plywood. Measuring 51.5 x 60 cm, it’s signed lower right as “A. Pulst 1964” and on the reverse as “Varakevadel. Aug. Pulst 1889 õlimaal vineeril.” August Pulst’s education in art was gained at Riga Art School (1911-15) under the tutelage of V. Purvitis, V. Tillbergs, and B. Borchert. Working as a decorator in the “Estonia” theatre and later collecting folklore, his works, exhibited since 1919, often include landscapes, flowers, and old town views, sometimes with an ethnographical touch.
