Promet, Aleksander (1879 – 1938). Weeping Birch (1935)

Pastel on cardboard, created by the renowned artist Aleksander Promet, this stunning piece titled “Pajud” (1920 – ndad) measures 56,7 x 39,8 cm and is signed on the lower right by A.Promet. Aleksander Promet studied in St. Petersburg and graduated from the eminent Shtiglitz School. He continued his education in London, Paris, and Brussels, where he developed his unique style. Typical of his art were the national and fantastic motifs, always romantic. This beautiful piece was part of his first exhibition in Tartu in 1909, and subsequently showcased in St.Petersburg, Helsinki, and Narva.
