Colorful Linocut on Paper by Erich Pehap (1980)

Erich Pehap (1912-1981) is the artist behind this vibrant linocut on paper, measuring 48 x 32 cm. The piece is signed on the bottom right by Pehap and dated 1980, while the bottom left indicates it is the 15th print in a series of 24. Pehap studied painting under N. Triik at the Pallas Art School, and later studied graphics under A. Laigo and R. Vaher, graduating in 1939. During the war, he moved to Finland, then Sweden, and finally settled in Toronto in 1949. Pehap was a member of several international art societies, including the International Institute of Arts and Letters in Switzerland, the World Print Council in the USA, and was an honorary member of the Academia Internazionale di Roma. He received numerous awards throughout his career.
