Erich Pehap: The Journey of a Renowned Artist

Erich Pehap (1912-1981) was a renowned artist known for his work “Asfaltteerijd” (1939 or 1940). This piece is a plywood cut on paper, measuring 35 x 45 cm. Pehap studied painting under N. Triigi at “Pallas”, and graphics under A. Laigo and R. Vaher, graduating in 1939. During the war, he moved to Finland, then Sweden, and finally settled in Toronto in 1949. He was a member of several international art associations, such as the International Institute of Arts and Letters (Switzerland), the World Print Council (USA), and an honorary member of the Academia Internazionale di Roma, among others. Pehap received numerous awards for his work.
