Lepik, Hugo (1905 – 2001). Camomiles. (1950s)

Hugo Lepik’s “Camomiles” from the 1950s is an exquisite oil on canvas masterpiece, capturing the deep and vigorous coloring that defines Lepik’s landscapes. Measuring 41.5 x 33.5 cm, the painting is signed lower right by H. Lepik. After graduating from the State Industrial and Art School in 1929, Lepik honed his skills in Germany, Italy, Finland, and Canada, before emigrating to Sweden in 1944. His powerful Estonian landscapes and detailed pictures of Sweden and Norway are widely acclaimed. He was also known for his superb portraits. Lepik’s works have been displayed in cities like Riga, Kaunas, Antwerp, Rome, Budapest, Stockholm, Montreal, and various Swedish locations.
