Kütt, Alleks (1921 – 1991). Farm. Kihnu (1965)
€152
Etching on paper, “Farm” (1965) by Alleks Kütt is a stunning representation of his masterful control over various graphic techniques. Having studied and taught art extensively, Alleks Kütt’s works often depict urbanized society, human nature, landscapes, and industrial themes. This piece, marked with “A.Kütt 65 a.” and titled “Talu” (linool) in the lower right and left respectively, reflects the complexity and decorative style that became predominant in his work during the 1960s. Injured in the Sinimägede battles, his earlier works are close to nature, while his later compositions became more intricate. His experimentation with colorful intaglio and electrographic carbon printing marked him as an innovator in the field of free graphics.
