Etching, aquatint, paper. The piece measures 24,5 x 24,8. The bottom left features the words “ofort, akvatinta” and on the bottom right, you will find the artist’s signature, “Päivikki Kallio 79”. Päivikki Kallio initially delved into Theoretical Philosophy and Art History at the University of Helsinki. By 1977, she graduated as a graphic artist and designer from the University of Art and Design, Helsinki. Following this, she pursued printmaking at the Estonian Academy of Arts in Tallinn between 1977 to 1979. Kallio’s work since 1978 has been showcased in various solo and group exhibitions both locally and internationally. Prestigious collections like Kiasma and the Finnish state feature her art. A standout feature of Kallio’s artworks is her focus on the spatial elements of printmaking. A significant number of her creations are spatial installations, and these installations often highlight the intricate processes involved in printmaking. Furthermore, light, in its various manifestations, remains an integral component of her work.
