This exceptional piece titled “Naked” by Silvia Jõgever, painted in the late 1940s to early ’50s, is a testament to her versatile artistic ability. Born in 1924 near Tartu, Jõgever’s artistic journey began in 1942 at the Maximum rates of the fine arts in Tartu, culminating in her graduation in 1952 from the State art institute Estonian SSR. Working as a teacher in Tartu schools since 1948, she also participated in exhibitions between 1960 and 1967. With personal exhibitions in Tartu’s State art museum (1972) and Tallinn’s Art interior (1973), Jõgever explored landscapes, abstract compositions, and figurative works. Although her work in oil is scarce, this piece reveals her unique style and ability, making it a rare and valuable addition to any collection.
