160

Watercolour masterpiece created by M.Fuks, this remarkable piece measuring 28.7 x 19.1 captures an unseen vision of the artist’s talent. The sketch was meant for the cover of a textbook that unfortunately has never been published. On the reverse of the artwork, the text confirms the authorship by M.Fuks. Born in 1921 in Leningrad and later moving to Estonia, Fuks’s career in art is expansive. Having worked in different schools and studios and being a member of the Union of Artists of Estonia since 1955, Fuks has illustrated numerous books for children and youth, textbooks, magazines, newspapers, created posters, city landscapes, still-lifes, and portraits. In 1947, Fuks became the author of the sketch of a badge and a breastplate for the First Holiday of a Song in the Estonian Soviet Socialist Republic.
