Evald Sagur’s Watercolor Painting

Artist Evald Sagur, a renowned Estonian painter, presents a beautiful watercolor painting on paper, measuring 33 x 47 cm. The artwork is signed by the artist himself as 'E. Sagur 75'. Sagur completed his education from the State Industrial School in 1940 and later graduated from the Tallinn State Institute of Applied Art in 1950, specializing in painting. He has worked as a lecturer at ERKI and later at the Cinematography Main Administration. He started participating in art exhibitions from 1960, designed posters, and contributed as a designer to the Pioneer magazine. He became a member of the Artists' Union in 1962. His first solo exhibition took place in 1963 at the Sõprus cinema in Tallinn. Sagur was known for his mastery in watercolor painting, often showcasing his works in exhibitions. His works are characterized by their vibrant and decorative style.
Ohakas, Valdur (1925 – 1998) Self – Portrait. (1942 – 48).

A leading figure in Estonian art during the 20th century, Ohakas's work resonates with history and his personal journey. His background, including time in a Siberian prison camp (1949-1956), and his association with the renowned Pallas school, form a vital part of his artistic identity. Despite a tragic fire in 1991 that destroyed many of his creations, Ohakas's love for drawing remained undiminished. His drawings, filled with inspiration and moods, are as fresh and real as the artist's breath, reflecting the power and critical stance against established art norms.
