Artwork by Fuks, Margarethe (1921 – 2005)
Fuks, Margarethe was a renowned artist, born in 1921 in Leningrad. Her family moved to Estonia the same year. She completed her primary education in Tallinn in 1935 and graduated from the State School of Applied and Fine Arts in 1940, specializing in decorative painting. She furthered her studies at the J.Koorti State School of Applied Arts in 1940-41 and at the Tallinn School of Fine and Applied Arts in 1942-43 under N.Mei and E.Haamer. She worked in Sindi and in Tallinn at A. Mõttus's studio and at "Arsis" from 1944-83. She became a member of the Artists' Union in 1955. Fuks illustrated and designed numerous children's and youth books, textbooks, youth magazines, and newspapers. She also practiced poster art and painted cityscapes, still lifes, and portraits. In 1947, she designed the badge and breastplate for the first general song festival of the Estonian SSR, together with A.Hoidre. Her work is characterized by the use of gouache on paper, with dimensions of 28.2 x 45.9 cm. Each piece is signed and dated, with a publisher's text on the reverse confirming authorship.
Ojalo, Ilmar (1910 – 1989). Model. (1941)
This exquisite oil painting on canvas, measuring 65.5 x 54 cm, is an embodiment of the talent of Ilmar Ojalo. The piece is signed "Ojalo" on the upper right corner. The reverse reveals the date "1941" and Ilmar Ojalo's signature, along with the title "Modell" and the size 65 x 54. Ilmar Ojalo's journey in art commenced in Tallinn, and he furthered his art education in Prague and Helsinki. From 1949 to 1958, he lent his meticulous touch as a restorer at the renowned Hermitage.
Kits, Elmar (1913-1972). “Near Adler City”. (1963)
Discover the exquisite work of Elmar Kits (1913-1972), titled "Near Adler City" (1963). Created with tempera on paper and signed in the lower right as "Elmar Kits 63", this piece measures 49,5 x 61,5 cm. Elmar Kits is one of Estonia's renowned painters, having graduated from the "Pallas" Art School and having been awarded the honorary title of the People's Artist of Estonian SSR in 1971. His art encompasses all genre-paintings – from monumental to book illustrations, reflecting his staunch principles even during the Soviet period in art policy. This work can also be found in the "Elmar Kits – Phenomenon" Catalogue (Tartu 1994 nr. 531).
Viidalepp, Ants (1921) Composition (1960)

Viires, Heldur (1927 – 2021). Blue Lake (Lake Lõõdla in Võru County) (1978)
Oil on canvas painting titled "Blue Lake (Lake Lõõdla in Võru County)" (1978) by Heldur Viires. This piece, sized at 54 x 70 cm, showcases Viires' abstract and modern approach to painting. Heldur Viires, a prominent Estonian artist, studied at the Tartu State Art Institute and the Leningrad Art Institute before being exiled to Siberia. Upon his return, he became an influential figure in the modern school of painting in Pallas. This painting is signed "H. Viires78" at the lower right and "Sinine järv" Lõõdla järv Võrumaal akrüül" on the reverse.
Hübner, Carl Wilhelm (1814 – 1879). Mother with the Child. (1840 – 50s)

Pikk, Ene (aastani 1945 Ene Ravaraja; (1925 – 2015). Asters. (1986)
This exquisite watercolour on paper captures the delicate essence of the Asters. Sized at 39 x 37 cm, it's signed at the lower right by E. Pikk. Pikk has a distinguished career, having worked in notable establishments like the Artistic Products Combination, the Estonian State Publishers, and the editorial office of Täheke. Starting from 1981, Pikk took to freelance artistry. Being a significant member of the Estonian Association of Journalists since 1961 and joining the Estonian Artists' Association in 1967, his legacy includes a plethora of cheerful decorative drawings illustrating children's books.
