Gebhardt, Karl (1860 – 1917). Interior. (1896)

Margarethe Fuks: A Journey Through Her Artistic Life

Margarethe Fuks (1921 - 2005) was a renowned watercolor artist, born in Leningrad in 1921. Her family moved to Estonia the same year. She completed her primary education in Tallinn in 1935 and graduated from the State School of Applied and Fine Arts in 1940, specializing in decorative painting. She furthered her studies at the J.Koort State School of Applied Arts in 1940-41 and at the Tallinn School of Fine and Applied Arts in 1942-43, under the tutelage of N.Mei and E.Haamer. Fuks worked in Sindi and in Tallinn at A. Mõttus's studio and at "Ars" from 1944 to 1983. She became a member of the Artists' Union in 1955. Fuks illustrated and designed numerous children's and youth books, textbooks, youth magazines, and newspapers. She also practiced poster art and painted cityscapes, still lifes, and portraits. In 1947, she designed the badge and breastplate for the first general song festival of the Estonian SSR, in collaboration with A.Hoidre.

Ilmar Kimm (1920 - 2011) was a renowned artist based in Tallinn and Pärnu. His work, "Tallinn – Pärnu mnt. (1981)" is an oil on canvas masterpiece measuring 81 x 100 cm. The signature "Ilmar Kimm 81" can be found on the lower right of the painting. On the reverse, it reads "Ilmar Kimm Tallinn – Pärnu mnt 1981.a. õ.l. 81 x 100cm". Kimm graduated from the I. Repin Institute of Art in painting in 1948. He was a faculty member at the Tartu State Art Institute from 1948-51 and at ERKI in Tallinn from 1952-88 (from 1954 as an associate professor, from 1965 as a professor, 1963-83 as head of the painting department, and 1983-88 as a consulting professor). He practiced all painting genres, with a particular focus on historical and work-themed figure compositions and portraits.
Bogatkin Vladimir (1922 – 1971). The Moskva Kind. (1955)
