Pulst August (1889 – 1977). Irises (1976)

Pulst August's magnificent painting "Irises (1976)" is a beautiful oil on plywood masterpiece. Measuring at 42.4 x 31.2 cm, it's a part of Pulst's long-standing tradition of producing captivating landscapes, flowers, and views of old town. Painted in 1976 and signed A. Pulst, it's a testament to his artistic skills honed in Riga Art School under the guidance of V. Purvitis, V. Tillbergs, and B. Borchert. Pulst's rich history includes working in the theatre "Estonia" as a decorator and contributing to Estonian folklore and museums. His art often bears an ethnographical touch, and "Irises" is no exception. A truly wonderful piece to adorn any collection.

Product name: Oil on cardboard. Author: Valdur Ohakas (1925-1998). Valdur Ohakas was one of the most prominent artists in Estonia in the second half of the 20th century. His paintings brought him real fame. He studied at the Tartu Art Institute from 1944 until his imprisonment. After World War II, when Soviet society was suppressed and tamed, Valdur Ohakas had a background in a Siberian prison camp (1949-1956).
A work from the period when V. Ohaka, like his peers of his generation, was characterized by the search for expressive picturesqueness.
Skride, Arijs (1906 – 1987). Lilac. (1930s)

Oil on canvas masterpiece by the renowned Latvian artist Arijs Skride, this piece, titled "Lilac," showcases his talent from the 1930s era. Positioned lower right is his signature, "A. Skride." Skride, a luminary in the art world, holds a rich history marked by his graduation from the Landscape Painting studio under V. Purvitis at the Latvian Art Academy in 1932. His passion for art took him on a journey to Germany in 1943, seeking inspiration and vivid canvases. Between 1942 and 1964, Skride imparted his knowledge and skill as a professor in the Painting Department at the Latvian Art Academy. He has been actively participating in exhibitions since 1928, with solo showcases in cities like Riga, Cesis, Jelgava, and Madona. A memorial exhibition to commemorate his legacy was organized in Riga in 1992. Not just an artist, Skride was a prominent member of the artists’ group "Sadarbs" from 1928 to 1939 and the esteemed Artists’ Union since 1944.

Hailing from a family of artists, Ludwig Skell, born in Obergünzburg, made his mark at the Munich Academy of Arts in 1859. His prowess didn't just end at genre painting; he was a versatile creator, delving into portraits, landscapes, and even illustrations for fairy tales and ballads. Some of his illustrious lithographs have also earned recognition.

Johannes Uiga, the renowned Estonian artist, presents "Flowers" (1978), a stunning oil on cardboard painting. Measuring 27.8 x 22.5 cm, this piece captures the essence of South Estonian landscapes. Painted with a delicate touch, it reveals Uiga's mastery and unique style, honed under the guidance of his teachers A.Vardi, K.Liimand, V.Ormisson at the famous "Pallas" Art School in Tartu. Lower right signed J.Uiga, and dated on the reverse 17.XII.1978. A member of the Artists Union of Estonia since 1959, Uiga's work continues to inspire and enchant art enthusiasts worldwide.

Born in Munich, Paul Braig is a French painter. Paul Braig studied at the Munich Academy and in 1923-1924 at the Bauhaus in Dessau under Kandinsky and Klee, then in France at the rich and powerful school of Roger Bissière. His movement - Expressionism. But according to critic Gérald Schurr, it is Expressionism that is endowed with "a certain tenderness and oriental sensuality". To this can be added his free, skillful brushstrokes, which often made him a remarkable portraitist and a highly sought-after poster artist. He was rightly considered the Courbet of our time – modernized, that is! Working in France, Italy and other countries.
