Evald Sagur’s Watercolor Painting

Artist: Evald Sagur, a renowned artist who completed his education from the State Industrial School in 1940 and the Tallinn State Institute of Applied Art in 1950. Sagur has worked as a lecturer at ERKI and later at the Cinematography Main Administration. He started exhibiting his work in art exhibitions from 1960. Sagur designed posters and contributed as a designer to the Pioneer magazine. He has been a member of the Artists' Union since 1962. His first solo exhibition took place in 1963 at the Sõprus cinema in Tallinn. Sagur specialized in watercolor painting, a technique he mastered. He exhibited his watercolor works at exhibitions, demonstrating a high level of skill in this technique, which resulted in colorful decorative works. The painting is a watercolor on paper, measuring 33 x 47 cm, and is signed 'E. Sagur 78' at the bottom right.

Ilmar Kimm (1920 - 2011) was a renowned artist based in Tallinn and Pärnu. His work, "Tallinn – Pärnu mnt. (1981)" is an oil on canvas masterpiece measuring 81 x 100 cm. The signature "Ilmar Kimm 81" can be found on the lower right of the painting. On the reverse, it reads "Ilmar Kimm Tallinn – Pärnu mnt 1981.a. õ.l. 81 x 100cm". Kimm graduated from the I. Repin Institute of Art in painting in 1948. He was a faculty member at the Tartu State Art Institute from 1948-51 and at ERKI in Tallinn from 1952-88 (from 1954 as an associate professor, from 1965 as a professor, 1963-83 as head of the painting department, and 1983-88 as a consulting professor). He practiced all painting genres, with a particular focus on historical and work-themed figure compositions and portraits.
