He was born in 1968 in Kiev, graduated from the Institute of Applied Arts and Design there in 1988 as an artist-designer, and in 1994 – from the State Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture as a monumental painter. His teachers were well-known painters-academicians V.Zabaštõ, V.Storoženko. Since 1998 he has been a member of the Union of Artists of Ukraine.
D.Dobrovolsky’s first solo exhibition took place in Kiev in 1994. Over the next almost twenty years of his creative career, the artist has participated in more than 20 local and international exhibitions: in Ukraine – Kiev, in the United Kingdom – London, Cambridge and Edinburgh, in Germany – Kassel, in Russia – Moscow, in the USA – Chicago, in Estonia – Tallinn and Kuressaare. His works can be found in museums and private collections in European countries, the USA, and Canada.

His art encompasses all genre-paintings – from monumental to book illustrations, reflecting his staunch principles even during the Soviet period in art policy. This work can also be found in the "Elmar Kits – Phenomenon" Catalogue (Tartu 1994 nr. 531).

Since 1946 Leškin worked as a lecturer at ERKI. In his work, the artist has cultivated oil painting, watercolor and charcoal drawing in a realistic style.

One of the very well–known emigrant artists of Estonia. His pictures are sensual and sophisticated at the same time. One can recognize the works of Herman Talvik at a glance. Studied at the Art Industry School in Tallinn and then continued at the Art Society School in Finland.
While living in Sweden, Talvik frequently visited Spain in the 1950s and 60s. At that time, he painted a lot of landscapes, preferring duller colors in this genre.
