Viktor Leškin graduated from the State Art and Industrial School in 1936 with a degree in decorative painting and from the Tallinn State Institute of Applied Arts in 1949 with a degree in sculpture, but he has nevertheless become known as a painter. Leškin’s paintings from different decades have a very wide range of themes and are in several different genres. A cross-section of his work is diverse – from documenting views of urban and industrial landscapes to emotional bouquets of field flowers. A common feature in Viktor Leškin’s painting heritage is a realistic style that accompanies his oil paintings, charcoal drawings and watercolors.
