Uiga, Johannes. (1918 – 1998). Pühajärv. (1980)

Oil on canvas painting by Johannes Uiga, the renowned Estonian artist, measures 73 x 86 cm and is signed on the lower left as J.Uiga. 80. Johannes graduated from the renowned “Pallas” Art School in Tartu, studying under esteemed teachers such as A.Vardi, K.Liimand, V.Ormisson. He became a member of the Artists Union of Estonia in 1959. This exquisite piece, “Pyukhayarv” (1980), beautifully captures South Estonian landscapes, reflecting Uiga’s mastery in conveying the natural beauty of his homeland.
