Jaan Tuuling (1930 – 1998) was a renowned Estonian artist, best known for his painting “Õhtu Emajõel” (1959). This oil on cardboard masterpiece measures 10.9 x 17.5 cm and is signed on the back with a pencil – J. Tuuling 1959 Õhtu Emajõel. The artwork comes directly from the artist’s family collection. Tuuling graduated from the Estonian State Art Institute in 1961, specializing in painting. He worked as an art teacher in a Tallinn school with an art bias and also as a commercial poster artist. A member of the Estonian Art Fund, Tuuling participated in numerous exhibitions both domestically and abroad. His works are highly valued and can be found predominantly in private collections worldwide, including in Sweden, Switzerland, Russia, France, Finland, and the United States.
