Soans, Olev (1925 – 1995). Tallinn (1950s)

Olev Soans (1925 – 1995), an eminent Estonian graphic artist, presents a stunning piece of art titled “Tallinn (1950s)”. Created on paper, this graphic measures 29.5 x 20.5 cm and features Soans’s autograph along with a note: “Noorus 1961/62” (the work is reproduced in the magazine). A graduate of the State Art Institute of Estonia in 1951, Soans later taught at the same place, becoming a senior lecturer in 1979 and a professor in 1987. Renowned for his etching techniques, he created many maps on the history of Estonia since 1975 and received the Kristian Raud prize in 1985.
