Etching on paper by the renowned artist Olev Soans, titled “Still life with Self-Portrait (1961)” features an intricate design captured in dimensions 35,9 x 27,5 and 18,8 x 17,4. The lower left of the etching contains the inscription “Natüürmort (ofort),” while the lower center features O Soans’s signature and the year 1961. On the lower right, it is marked 7/20. The author’s autograph can be found on the sheet with a special note: “Noorus 1961/62” (the work is reproduced in the magazine).Olev Soans, an alumnus of the State Art Institute of Estonia in 1951, later taught at the same institution, receiving the rank of senior lecturer in 1979 and professor in 1987. As one of the most outstanding Estonian graphic artists of the 1950s, Soans made significant contributions to the field of graphic art. Since 1975, he created many maps on the history of Estonia using etching techniques. In 1985, he was awarded the Kristian Raud prize.
