Soans, Olev (1925 – 1995). Estonian military (1990s)

This magnificent etching on paper by the renowned Estonian artist Olev Soans measures 42.7 x 55.7. The piece represents the last work of this famous artist, whose contribution to graphic art in the 1950s has solidified his reputation as one of Estonia’s most outstanding graphic artists. After graduating from the State Art Institute of Estonia in 1951, Soans taught at the same institution and was honored with the rank of senior lecturer in 1979 and professor in 1987. He specialized in creating maps on the history of Estonia using etching techniques, and in 1985, he was awarded the Kristian Raud prize. This piece is a testament to his skill and creativity, embodying his lifelong passion for art and history.
