Olev Soans (1925 – 1995) was one of the most prominent Estonian graphic artists of the 1950s, known for his mastery of etching techniques. His work “Arms Võrumaa” (1977) showcases his unique vision and artistic flair. Having completed his education at the State Art Institute of Estonia in 1951, he later became a professor, influencing generations of artists. Since 1975, he created various historical maps of Estonia using etching techniques and was honored with a prize in 1985, dedicated to Kristian Raud. The etching “Arms Võrumaa” is a beautiful example of his craftsmanship and creativity, immortalized on a 42 x 30cm paper.
