Etching, paper 42 x 30Olev Soans, a prominent figure in Estonian art, graduated from the State Art Institute of Estonia in 1951. From 1961, he taught at the same institute, where he became a senior lecturer in 1979 and a professor in 1987.Known as one of the most outstanding Estonian graphic artists of the 1950s, Soans used etching techniques to create many historical maps of Estonia. His achievements include receiving the Kristian Raud prize in 1985. This particular piece, “Arms Võrumaa,” represents his unique style and mastery, capturing the essence of the era during the 1970s.
