Olev Soans, an esteemed Estonian graphic artist and educator, presents “Arms Otepää,” an exquisite etching on paper, created in the 1970s. Soans completed his education at the State Art Institute of Estonia in 1951 and joined the institution as a lecturer in 1961. Receiving the rank of senior lecturer in 1979, and professor in 1987, his contribution to the field is noteworthy. As one of the most prominent Estonian graphic artists of the 1950s, he crafted many maps on Estonian history using etching techniques and received the Kristian Raud prize in 1985. “Arms Otepää” symbolizes Soans’ artistic mastery and reverence for his country’s history.
