Evald Sagur’s Natüürmort õuntega (1974) – A Watercolor Masterpiece

Evald Sagur (1922 – 1987) was a renowned artist known for his mastery in watercolor painting. This particular piece, “Natüürmort õuntega” (1974), is a beautiful example of his work. The painting, done on paper, measures 33 x 47 cm and is signed by the artist himself. Sagur completed his education at the State Industrial School in 1940 and later graduated from the Tallinn State Institute of Applied Art in 1950. He worked as a lecturer at ERKI and then at the Cinematography Main Administration. He began exhibiting his work in 1960 and held his first solo exhibition in 1963 at the Sõprus cinema in Tallinn. Sagur was a member of the Artists’ Union from 1962 and was known for his vibrant, decorative works.
