Pilar Aleksander’s “Still-life” (1970) is a captivating watercolor painting on paper, measuring 2 x 48 cm. Born into a military family and spending his childhood in Yugoslavia, Pilar eventually settled in Estonia in 1922. Known for his floral compositions, seascapes, and lyrical watercolors dedicated to nature, he worked for the “Eesti Siid” factory and studied under the renowned painter A.Kaigorodov. An active member of Estonian Arts Group in Jaroslavl, he was also awarded the title of an honorary artist of Estonia.
