Peil, Voldemar (1907 – 1999) .Asters. (1979)

Oil on canvas painting titled “Asters” (1979) by Voldemar Peil, measuring 60 x 60, and signed on the lower right as “VPeil 79”. The artist, a student of notable figures like I.Vahtra, V.Mellik, V.Ormisson, and A.Vabbe at the “Pallas” Art School in Tartu, developed a diverse career that spanned stage design and traditional art forms like landscapes and portraits. He has been closely associated with various drama theatres and was honored with the title of People’s Artist of Estonia in 1968. His works have been exhibited across Estonia, and a personal exhibition was held in Moscow in 1978.
