This exquisite lithography, titled “Portrait of Nicholas I,” dates back to the year 1850 and is skillfully crafted on paper. The artwork is based on the work of the renowned German painter Franz Kruger, a portraitist who worked at the Imperial Court of Russia and the Royal Court of Prussia. This particular piece showcases the brilliant technique of Kruger, coexisting with impeccable taste and enormous efficiency. The lithography features inscriptions on the lower left, center, and right, and was meticulously drawn on stone by Pyotr Pashenny, a lithographer at the Government Printing House of Ways of Communication and Public Buildings. A true testament to the artistry and craftsmanship of the mid 19th century.
