This is a striking linocut piece on paper, measuring 36 x 22.5 cm, showcasing the unique style of Väino Paris. Born in 1921 in Tartu, Paris obtained his original art education from the State School of Industrial Art in the Department of lithography. Post-war, he pursued further studies at the Tallinn State Institute of Applied Arts, graduating in 1948. Paris’s career in Tallinn was illustrious, with him working as a freelance artist and designing exhibitions for the “Ars” plant. While he specialized in landscapes and flower paintings, his portfolio also boasts remarkable pencil drawings. The artwork “Pines,” created between 1945-48, carries his initials ‘V.P.’ both on the lower right and the center of the plate.
