Jüri Palm (1937 – 2002) was a prominent Estonian painter and graphic artist of the second half of the 20th century. His work, “Mees ja naine” (Man and Woman), created in 1962, is a charcoal on paper piece measuring 78 x 56 cm. Palm’s signature is located on the bottom right of the piece. He graduated from the Estonian State Art Institute (ERKI) in 1963, specializing in graphics. Throughout the 1960s, he created a series of linocuts, woodcuts, and lithographs, and in the 1970s, he focused on drawing, with a large portion of his work exhibited in the Tallinn Art Salon in 1979. Palm’s drawings and world are generally less idyllic, often reflecting a great inner unrest.
