Alleks Kütt’s 1962 masterpiece, “The Dredger,” exhibits the artist’s dedication to portraying fishermen, industrial motifs, landscapes, and more. Created using aquatint on paper and measuring 25 x 48.5 cm, it is signed “Süvendaja” (akvatinta) on the lower left and “A.Kütt 62 a.” on the lower right. Kütt studied at the Tallinn State Institute of Applied Arts and later became a lecturer at the Art Academy of Estonia. Known for experimenting with new techniques like electro-colour gravure printing and graphic hot, his work evolved from naturalistic representations to a more complex, imaginative, and decorative style in the latter half of the 1960s.
