Jürgenson, Aleksandra (1869-1946). Flowers in a circle. (1927)
€950
Watercolour and gouache beautifully combine on paper to depict the artwork “Flowers in a circle” by Aleksandra Jürgenson, painted in 1927. Aleksandra, a significant figure in the art world, was known not just for her artistic prowess, but also for her deep connections with the world of music through her father, Pyotr Jurgenson, the renowned publisher of Tchaikovsky. The personal bond between Aleksandra and Tchaikovsky was evident when he insisted on her painting his portrait. Tchaikovsky’s dedication of L’espiegle No12, of the Eighteen Pieces Op72 1893, stands testament to their relationship. Aleksandra’s remarkable skills can also be witnessed in her portrait of the fellow painter Surikov, which graces the Tretiakov Gallery in Moscow.
